Gakken SX-150

So I saw this on Matrixsynth and had to post the video here as well. It's a little synth that has a ribbon controller and as far as I can see costs under $50 (plus anywhere from $20 to $40 for shipping). I want one, but it falls back in the line of stuff I want to buy. First I want a Akai MPC 1000.

Ama Ama for brunch

Yesterday my wife and I went to Ama Ama for brunch. While I was hoping for some kind of oyster fry omelet and that wasn't on the menu, which I thought odd for a oyster bar, I did find it to be an unexpected treat.

I'll start with the coffee, it was Cafe Vita and only comes in press pots. You can get a small 2 cup or a large 4 cup. It was great, a light chocolate flavor, not bitter, amazing. Then we had the jumbo cinnamon roll, which was more of a dessert. It was covered in caramel and frosting. I loved it, my wife thought it was over the top.

For the main course my wife had the Tino's Benedict. It is lamb sausage over polenta and poached egg with hollandaise sauce. The egg was done just right and the hollandiase sauce perfect as well.

I had the Dungeness Omelet. I liked it, but it had a sauce as well and made it a little loose and runny for me. The bacon I ordered came crisp and tasty and the potatoes were fried to a crispy goodness.

We didn't have any, but we saw someone get a bacon Bloody Mary, complete with a strip of the same bacon I had. it looked good as well.

If you want a new place for breakfast I would give it a try, we will definitely be back.

Ipod

So I've had an Ipod for a while now and it finally got erased. I lost some movies I didn't have archived, some music, but overall it felt like spring cleaning. A new start. I cleaned off the cobwebs. Living with temporary media is much lighter, less to carry and a feeling of freshness after a restart. I wouldn't want it to happen all the time, but once every couple of years is ok.

the dark knight

So we went to the new AMC theaters in Southcenter. I have to say it was very cool. We went to an early show, to avoid the crowds and it worked, but even crowded those theaters are plush enough that it would be ok. The seats are almost like flying first class. Lots of room, moving armrests, it was plush.

The movie on the other hand, was not all it could have been. I thought they might have shortened it some, maybe cut some of the storyline and it would have been better. Heath Ledger's performance was great, possibly better than great (I can't think of a word), I'm still kinda in awe a day later. I liked Aaron Eckart, Maggie Gyllenhaal and Morgan Freeman as well. Christian Bale was good, not as good as the last movie, but better than any of the other Batmen. The movie was just too long.

My advice is to wait until video if you haven't seen it, or go at matinee times at least.

Hellboy 2 and the case of the wrong day

So last Saturday I thought we had a party to attend in Olympia, Wa. I picked my wife up from work at 5:45pm and we headed down I-5. When we got to our friend's driveway we noticed a lack of vehicles. I had called before we left and no one had answered the phone. Needless to say the party wasn't until the next weekend. Luckily it was a nice day for a drive. On the way back we stopped for a movie.

Hellboy 2 was good. If you didn't see the first don't worry, they catch you up and I think that you should be able to follow. I liked the first Hellboy, I thought some of the villians in Hellboy 2 looked better, and the sets looked better overall from the first film. Ron Perlman was great, as was Seth McFarland as a ghostlike gas that moves around in a suit that looked like a early diving get-up. There were lots of gears in this movie I found myself looking at the gears, I might need to see again so I can count the instances of gears. The final word, go see it.

Oh the woes of software support

My friend Trent writes for the Stranger's Line Out music blog.
Here is today's post lamenting his attempt to move someones Itunes files to another computer. Feel his pain.

Sticker graffiti from Pike Place Market

I really liked this little guy. I liked him so much he is my phone background now. He's grumpy cause his head hurts from the gunshot.

Fourth of July pics

So my wife's relatives were in town for the week of the Fourth of July. They stayed at the Residence Inn on Lake Union. The hotel makes the a couple suites available for guests to have a good view of the fireworks. Needless to say we had a good view.

Household hacker dvd tips

So one of my favorite You Tube video sites is the Household Hacker . He has his own website, but I discovered him through You Tube, and I usually just watch his helpful videos there.

Here is a video of how to remove scratches from DVD's,
