Resident Evil: Extension

So we checked out the newest of the Resident Evil movies tonight. They only "sort of " set it up for another movie. But If it happens it will be epic. This one was just OK. Kinda like a video game script version of the Road Warrior, in Vegas instead of Australia and with Milla playing Mel Gibson's part. Ali Larter plays the same character she is in everything. The zombies are crazier some of the time and the crows are great. I liked how no batteries ever ran out. Over all see it on video if you can wait. Or wait for the next one, I think it will be better than all the previous ones.

Seattle Phonographers Union Sunday, September 30 @ 8 pm

So I spend quite a bit of time lurking on the former I heart noise board and I saw a post about an interesting performance piece.

Sunday, September 30 @ 8 pm
Building 27 at Sand Point, Magnuson Park

"The Seattle Phonographers Union improvises live with unprocessed field recordings drawn from the huge archive of sounds they have collected around the world and right here in local streets, pastures, and forests.

The SPU performs in the vast environment of a former aircraft hangar at Sand Point Magnuson Park, allowing the natural reverberation of this large space to influence their improvisation.

There is no seating at this performance; listeners will be free to come and go, their echoing footsteps another component of the sonic environment. Bring a cushion and/or blanket if you wish to sit.

The SPU features an all-star cast of noted Seattle-based sounds artists including Steve Barsotti, Pete Comely, Katie Gately, Mark Griswold, Doug Haire, Dale Lloyd, Perri Lynch, Rob Millis, Toby Paddock, Steve Peters, and Jonathan Way."

It looks like it should be a cool performance. I don't know how long I will spend out in the cold on a Sunday evening, but I definitely want to check it out.

Me Skating Alki

I made a video of some still photos my wife took of me skating on Alki last week.

I'm not carjacking you , I'm the devil.

"Reaper" is by far my favorite new show this season. Hopefully it won't go the way of "Drive", my last favorite new show that just disappeared without any notice. "Reaper" is funny, and doesn't look like it will have too much of a story thread that moves from episode to episode, so if god forbid I miss and episode, I won't lose my mind trying to catch up.

Unfaithful Servants live video

I recorded a song of the Unfaithful Servants playing at the Oyster Run last weekend in Anacortes. The sound isn't great, but I still think it captured the moment well.

Longfellow Creek pics

I took some photos on a walk through the Longfellow Creek path down the street from our house earlier this summer and have just got around to getting them off the camera.

I like the wire wrap to keep out the beavers.

Oyster Run 2007

So Sunday my wife and I headed up to the Oyster Run in Anacortes to see our friends "The Unfaithful Servants" play some music. It was an all areound good time with some of the best grilled oysters I have ever had and good music. We saw plenty of motorcycles and some interesting t-shirts.

Profile of me in The Stranger Line Out

So the other day I was reading the online music blog for The Stranger. It is called Line Out. I saw a piece about sound engineers and I added some comments. The person who wrote the piece contacted me through a mutual friend and asked if he could write about me and my past as a sound engineer. It is called Ozzfest – Jäger & Leather at 9 AM

Giannoni's

So my wife and I finally made it to the new pizza place in Westwood Village called Giannoni's. Now anyone who knows my wife, knows she is old school east coast and hasn't really ever found a pizza place that filled the hole left when she moved out here. It might be a little soon to say , but the search may be over. Giannoni's was by far the best East Coast style pizza we have had ever in Seattle. Now don't get me wrong, there are some good pizza places, Tutta Bella, Pegasus, Northlake to name a few, as well as some straight up Italian restaurants that have pizza that is good also. But for a just straight ahead pizza, salad, soda joint, Giannoni's beats out everything else in Seattle. Pagliacci's has been on my bad side for years and I am happy to say I don't think we will be eating it any time in the near future.

Do yourself a favor and give it a try, you will regret it if you don't.

We saw this outside Smarty Pants in Georgetown yesterday.

I thought it was a good use of old computer parts.

Upcoming Show October 9th Seattle

In my ever self promoting attempt, one of my experimental projects has an upcoming live event. phase3 is hard to explain sort of a improvosational electronic experiment. We use live sampling, live synth performance and live video manipulation to create audio visual moods. Suffice to say it is an experience. We will be releasing a cd and playing live October 9th at 7pm at the Rendezvous Jewelbox Theater in Seattle.

the evening on Alki

I went skateboarding on Alki this evening with my wife after we went to our friend Linda's art opening at a bookstore on Capitol Hill called Spine and Crown . I forgot that the Statue of the Statue of Liberty was going back up today.

Then we ate at Pegasus Pizza and got to watch this sunset. Its nice living over here.

Georgetown for breakfast

After waking up late today, we went down to Georgetown to Smarty Pants for breakfast. I highly recommend the Troublemaker Pile Up or anything with the Troublemaker sauce, it was amazing. The pile up features some very well cooked chicken in hearty chunks with monterey jack cheese, and bacon, mixed with eggs on top of hash browns, only the crispy top of the browns, amazing. They also have a great deck with lots of cool sculptures like this one.

Then after we walked around and I saw lots of cool graffiti.

The ram I later found out is the logo for a falafel restaurant, but I still liked it and the angel cow is great as well. The bird stencil is one of the coolest smaller pieces I have seen ever.

3:10 to Yuma

I almost forgot, after work last night we went to see the new Russell Crowe, Christian Bale movie "3:10 to Yuma", a remake of an old western. I loved it, if you like westerns in the vain of "Unforgiven" you will like it too. I say go for the matinee because I like the westerns on the big screen, but definitely see it on video if you don't catch it in the theaters.

lazy saturday

So we were awoken to the lovely sounds of the city of Seattle doing construction in the street below our window today. After our rude awakening my wife and I went to the Chelan Cafe for breakfast, I recommend the BBIT if you haven't been before, get it with three eggs if you really want a hearty breakfast. After breakfast I had to renew my tabs, which included getting an emissions test. Definitely an exercise in patience.

Then I headed off to buy a new skateboard at Snowboard Connection. It is 46 inches long and 9 1/2 inches wide. The Sector 9 Supercruiser. I love it. I also stopped at a friends yard sale down the street from Sno Con and bought some candles that look like eyes.

After that I went down to Alki to try out the new board, it runs real smooth. Then I remembered my wife wanted some new cds so I went to Easy Street at the Junction.

On my way home I heard that Riko Kiley were playing at The End's beach house on Alki, so I headed down and skated over there. I saw my friend Andrew who had skated his longboard as well. We made fun of the people from The End while we waited 45 mins. for the band to play 2 songs. Oh well it was fun to finally check out the beach house, and the 2 songs they played sounded great.

Bruise

So the other night my wife and I headed down to the Burien skatepark. I thought it looked like I might be able to try skating the bowls there, and I did. They looked easier in the photos, but I was able to skate it a little, until my board went one direction and I went down, hard. I reinjured my wrist and bruised my knee and butt. The next day my wrist was getting better, but my butt still hurt. When I got home I took a look and I have a huge bruise, its way cool!!!! My wife took some photos that I will post later. >>So now I have posted 2 photos of the bruise, taken two days apart. I love it.

A new owl

After band practice last night I saw a new No Touching Ground owl on a building across the street. Sorry this isn't the best picture. I liked the Rat Fink like mouse below as well. The no poster sign right above is a nice touch.

WAR, the movie

So yesterday we went to see the new Jet Li/ Jason Statham movie "War". I thought it was a little slow, but it had some good fight scenes. The plot played me three card monte for a surprise. My wife was a little confused by the Triads vs Yakuza fighting. Overall I give it a rating of see it on video for sure, maybe in the theater if you have nothing to do.

Skate Parks in Washington

Yesterday evening we met some friends for dinner in Ballard, so I got to check out the Ballard Bowl. I haven't seen it since it moved to its new spot. Sorry no photos. When I got home I checked out a website that has photos and diredtions to all the skate parks in Washington, as well as other states like Idaho, Oregon, and some in California. Northwest Skater

The sunday that lasted for a long time.

So we got up yesterday and I asked my wife if she wanted to go for a walk. She said yes and I also decided to take the rack that I wanted to sell and put it in the car in case I decided to drive to Olympia after breakfast. So we went for a nice walk along Alki and saw this interesting piece of graffiti.

After breakfast I called the guy who wanted to buy my rack and he said he would meet me in Olympia, so off we went, with no plan. The night before we thought about going to Canada, I heard about a cool skate park in Whistler and wanted to take a look, but thoughts of a long Border wait and expensive hotels stopped us. So off we went with only a plan of selling the rack and maybe seeing our friends J and E.
I met the guy, sold the rack and our friends weren't home. We dropped off some presents and headed for the Hoh rainforest.
On the way we detoured to the Sol Duc hot springs.
Then we decided to take the Bainbridge ferry home, but on the way we stopped at the 7 Cedars Casino for dinner.
After eating dinner and escaping without losing any money, we made our way to catch the 9:45 ferry and head for home.
Arriving about 12 hours after we left Seattle. I had driven most of the time. It was a long and fun day. Sorry for the lack of photos, I forgot my camera, but when I get the photos developed from the throw away I bought at Wal-Mart, along with a $4 dollar swimsuit, I will post some.
