spinning like a rubiks cube
So my job has kept me too busy to update my blog. But today I had sometime and saw this wierd news story. The spinning skyscraper in Dubai.The mock-up they had in the pictures looked like a very tall rubiks cube. It would be great if they painted every floor a different color.

The Bomb (burrito)
So the weekend has arrived again and I decided to celebrate this morning with a burrito for breakfast. I don't mean Gorditos or Taco Del Mar, or even Taco Bell. By burrito I mean a frozen shingle filled with meat of questionable origin and a yellow cheese sauce. Yes it is "The Bomb" from 7-11.
Now to be fair I don't eat these very often anymore. There was a time in my past, when these were a large part of my diet. the summer of my freshman year of college, I spent most of my time at my girlfriend's apartment and subsisted on meals from the Jackpot mini mart next door. I would fill up my to go mug with Red Creme Soda and zap a frozen burrito for breakfast. When I moved back to Seattle I bought them in bulk from Costco and made them at home, good for every meal.
Now in my elder years they don't agree with my constitution, but every once in a blue moon, I treat myself to the gut bomb that keeps on giving.

meatloaf and the great escape
So last night after I finish a long day at work I came home to a great meal and watched a great movie.
First of all, my wife made a fine meal of comfort food. Meatloaf, mixed vegetables and
baked potato. She was not happy with her last meatloaf and stepped it up a notch by adding mushrooms to the loaf. I thought it was awesome and I will be dining on it again for lunch today.
Before I got home I stopped at the library and picked up "The Great Escape" for an after dinner treat. I knew my wife hadn't seen it and it is one of my favorite movies. James Garner as the scrounger will never fail to entertain me. The scene with Steve McQueen returning to the camp after being caught the last time and heading back into "the cooler" is also a classic. If you haven't seen it you might want to check it out from the library after I return it, its a great flick.

Kontrol
Last night we finished watching the Hungarian movie, "Kontrol".
It is a very weird film about metro workers, a killer who pushes people in front of the trains and a love story between a woman who spends most of the movie in a bear suit and the strange ticket taker Bulcsú. I thought the cinematography was amazing. The use of the surroundings to create images that may of may not be intended. The dark gloomy train platforms, I loved it all.

When 4 books become one.
So, when we bought our condo in the Delridge neighborhood of West Seattle, one of the perks was that the Delridge Library is right next door. By right next door I meant the library building kisses our building on one side. Before moving here I didn't use the Seattle Library ever. My wife did on occasion, when we lived in the Central District, but I never did. After we moved I decided to check it out.
One day I locked myself out of the house and spent a big chunk of my day reading magazines in the library, I was then that I discovered how many new movies the library had on DVD. So I got myself a library card and started checking out the online ordering. I could order a movie and have it sent ot the Delridge Library for me to pick up. It was like Netflix, for free.
I also started ordering books.
As of today I am reading 4 books at the same time. Sometimes this causes me to intertwine the stories and can get confusing. Not right now though.

Does anyone really ever win the lottery?
So, I went to get my lunch today at the deli a block from my office and when I was paying for my sandwich the cashier told me that the man sitting at the counter had just won a million dollars on a scratch ticket for the Washington State Lottery. I knew people must have won sometime I just had never been that close. I saw that several people had stickers that said "ask me how to win $1,000,000". It was very surreal from that point on. I went to the ticket machine and bought a lottery ticket, almost like I had no control. Scratched it off and I had won, $2. That's more like it. Well no million for me, but the other guy, he did win, maybe you can ask him how to win.
